  • “This is your final warning,” declares Chief Minister to Governor Kundi.
  • Governor Kundi threatens to take CM to the streets in case of an attack on the Governor House.
  • “I’m skilled in handling troublemakers like you,” asserts Governor Kundi toward CM Gandapur.

The head of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, sent a stern message to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday, instructing him to refrain from political commentary and clashes due to the ceremonial nature of his role.

The Chief Minister advised, “You are being warned; as a governor, your responsibility is solely constitutional, steer clear of political banter and conflict.”

These remarks were sparked by Governor Kundi’s retort to the Chief Minster’s earlier threat of a siege on the Governor House if provoked.

During a commemorative event of the previous year’s upheaval, held by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Dera Ismail Khan, CM Gandapur expressed his indifference to the possibility of governor’s rule and asserted that any such imposition would lead to a popular occupation of the Governor’s and CM’s residences, as only the rule by the masses holds legitimacy in the region.

Governor Kundi assured he had ample defenses for the Governor’s House against any assault led by CM Gandapur.

“Should there be a need for a skirmish rehearsal, count me in. Unlike in Islamabad, you wouldn’t find an escape route here. I will ensure you face the consequences right on these streets,” Governor Kundi forewarned during an assembly, indicating a tough stance against any aggression from the Chief Minister.

Kundi further cautioned the Chief Minister to be mindful of his speech and actions, expressing confidence in handling unruly behavior, “I can handle troublemakers like yourself efficiently.”

Chief Minister Gandapur also dismissed Governor Kundi’s political engagements as unsanctioned, emphasizing that such confrontations are beyond the Governor’s remit.

“The position of Governor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hardly entitles one to such outspokenness,” he commented, highlighting that the Governor’s House relies on the provincial budget for even its basic needs.

“Should my plans come to fruition, you’ll be deprived not just of your vehicle’s fuel, but also of the Governor’s residence,” he cautioned, suggesting the transformation of the Governor’s House into a public museum and relocation of the Governor to a modest two-room space.

“Politics is none of your concern,” Gandapur continued, advising Governor Kundi to heed his official boundaries. “Presently, the Governor lacks any significant status or responsibilities within the province,” he concluded.
