Drugs worth $34.2m recovered from Balochistan

KARACHI: On Saturday, the Pakistan Coast Guards announced the seizure of narcotics valued at $34.241 million during raids in the regions of Pasni and Uthal within Balochistan, as stated by ARY News.

Revealing the details, two separate crackdowns by the coast guards resulted in a significant confiscation of narcotics in the aforementioned areas.

A total of 187 sacks full of drugs, collectively weighing more than 2,000 kilograms, were intercepted in Pasni. These narcotics have a purported market value of approximately $34.241 million globally.

Concurrent law enforcement activities at a Uthal checkpoint led to the interception of 3,595 kilograms of illicit drugs onboard a bus en route from Quetta to Karachi.

An official representative commented on the smuggling operations, mentioning that the seized narcotics were intended for international trafficking. Investigations are currently underway to identify the involved parties, both in the origin and planned destinations of these consignments.

It’s important to highlight that the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has also been active, conducting ten separate operations nationwide, leading to the recovery of 2,133 kilograms of illegal substances and the arrest of seven individuals.

Among the crackdown details, a parcel destined for the UK containing 580 grams of heroin was intercepted at the DHL office at Lahore Airport.

In a second case, a passenger headed to Bahrain from Karachi Airport was found carrying 460 grams of the drug commonly known as Ice.

Additionally, during a third bust, 1.4 kilograms of Ice were seized from three separate parcels at a courier facility in Quetta.

Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, a parcel arriving from the UK at a courier service was found to contain 14 grams of cannabis.

An enormous quantity of hashish, amounting to 2,080 metric tons, was recovered from Fort Abdullah, while 19 kilograms of hashish were seized from three individuals at Port Qasim in Karachi. Moreover, 14 kilograms of hashish were obtained from a location near Sukran Road in Hub.
