“Dad had his reservations at first, and sadly, he passed away prior to our wedding. My mother and Naseer’s initial rapport was fraught with tension, however, they eventually mended ties and became close,” she revealed. “But Naseer’s family was unexpectedly trouble-free. The topic of conversion never came up, and they warmly welcomed me without a single qualm. I consider myself incredibly fortunate, especially knowing the challenges others face. I managed to build a bond with all of them, including my traditionally-minded yet open-hearted mother-in-law,” she added.

Ratna hails from a Gujarati Hindu lineage, born on August 7, 1957, to the Pathak family which included her mother, the celebrated actor Deena Pathak. Supriya Pathak, her sibling, is also a respected name in acting. Ratna’s academic chapters include J. B. Vachha High School in Dadar, Mumbai, and the prestigious National School of Drama, Delhi, where she was part of the 1981 class.
