Priyanka Chopra, who launched her acting career in the 2002 Tamil movie Thamizhan alongside Vijay, was reluctant to accept the film initially. In a recent conversation with Filmygyan, Priyanka‘s mother Madhu Chopra remembered encouraging her ‘dutiful child’ to agree to the part. ‘Priyanka has always been a dutiful child’Revealing how Priyanka did not wish to act in films, Madhu stated, “Priyanka didn’t want to be in movies. She received the offer for the South Indian film through someone. When I informed Priyanka about the offer, she started crying, saying, ‘I don’t want to do films.’ But she has always been a dutiful child. When I told her to accept the offer, she complied and signed the contract (for Thamizhan).” ‘Priyanka initially struggled to match steps with Vijay’Madhu continued, “While filming, she started to enjoy it. Though unfamiliar with the language, she found it enjoyable. The team assisted her and treated her with great respect. Vijay starred in the film; he is an absolute gentleman. Raju Sundaram was the choreographer. In dancing, Priyanka was fine, but initially, she struggled to keep up with Vijay. She practiced with the choreographer from morning until evening. Eventually, she began to enjoy it. This experience helped her build her character and realise her desire to pursue a career in acting.” Upcoming projectsAfter Priyanka was crowned Miss World 2000, she ventured into films and made her acting debut in Thamizhan (2002), followed by her first Bollywood film, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy (2003), with Sunny Deol as co-star. Priyanka‘s forthcoming films include The Bluff, directed by Frank E Flowers. She recently completed filming for Heads Of State, an upcoming action-comedy featuring Idris Elba, John Cena, and Jack Quaid in principal roles.
