Actor Naseeruddin Shah’s Stance on a Film Addressing Religion

When asked about what current societal concern he would pick to explore through cinema, Naseeruddin Shah stated, “Religion would be my choice. I believe there’s a need for bold filmmaking to dissect this pervasive issue that preoccupies our thoughts. It ranks among the most detrimental forces to have impacted humanity, which is why I hold the Pakistani film ‘Khuda Kay Liye’—a project I was part of— in high regard, placing it on par with Manthan in terms of significance.”

He added, “There are a few daredevils who are broaching the topic and perhaps in time, their ranks will swell. Nonetheless, it remains a challenge to convey such messages straightforwardly. It’s crucial to present them in a digestible way.”
