What Janhvi mentioned
In the interview, Janhvi discussed Sridevi and remarked, “She had faith in practices like, ‘certain tasks should be done on particular days,’ ‘do not cut hair on Fridays as it will prevent Goddess Lakshmi from entering the home,’ and ‘refrain from wearing black on Fridays.’ I never accepted these superstitions. However, after she departed, I began to believe in them, perhaps excessively. I’m unsure if I was this devout and spiritually inclined when she was here. [When she was alive] we all followed these rituals because Mamma did. But following her passing, the connection our culture and history share with Hinduism… I believe I began finding solace in our faith a lot more.”

Additional details
She elaborated, “She used to chant his name consistently, ‘Narayan Narayan Narayan.’ She used to visit the temple every year on her birthday while she was working. After her marriage, she ceased going. Following her passing, I decided to visit the temple every year on her birthday. The first time I did this, I became very emotional, but I also found significant mental tranquility.”

Janhvi is Sridevi’s eldest child with filmmaker Boney Kapoor. She also has a younger sister, Khushi Kapoor. Sridevi passed away in 2018 due to accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel. Janhvi’s debut movie, Dhadak, premiered in theatres in July 2019. She will portray a cricketer in Mr and Mrs Mahi, which releases in theatres on May 31.
