Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, and Abhishek Bachchan in Kajra Re

Amitabh reminisces about shooting Kajra Re

As Bunty Aur Babli marked 19 years this week, Amitabh took to X and reshared a still from Kajra Re, featuring him, Abhishek and Aishwarya synchronized in their iconic dance moves. He captioned it, “The song became so beloved that it continues to attract attention and affection .. and the best moments with the song, Bhaiyu, were when we delivered this live on stage (namaste and laughing with tears emojis).”

Amitabh and Abhishek performed the song at the Filmfare Awards in 2006, with Aishwarya also joining them on stage. The online community, however, questioned why Amitabh didn’t mention Aishwarya in his post as she was evidently the highlight of the song. An X user remarked, “Sorry to say but Kajra Re was all about Aishwarya. Both of you were merely supporting dancers in that song.” Another added, “But the credit for its fame goes not to you but to Aishwarya, because I believe that if only you were there then it would have been popular, but thanks to Aishwarya it became most popular (smile emoji).” “Besides ‘Bhaiyu’, there was also ‘Bhaiyi’ in the song. She is the primary reason for the song’s success. No one watches the song for ‘Bhaiyu’ or ‘Senior Bhaiyu’ in the song,” another comment read. “Both you and your son are insignificant in this song. Without Aishwarya, no one would watch this,” wrote another user on X.

About Bunty Aur Babli

Bunty Aur Babli was produced by Yash Raj Films. It also featured Rani Mukerji in the lead role opposite Abhishek. Varun V Sharma directed the sequel in 2022, featuring Rani, Saif Ali Khan (who replaced Abhishek as Bunty), Siddhant Chaturvedi, Sharvari Wagh, and Pankaj Tripathi, but it flopped at the box office.
