Aamir Discusses His Role in “Sarfarosh”

In a discussion, Aamir remarked, “What stood out about ‘Sarfarosh’ in the realm of mainstream cinema was its divergence from typical policeman portrayals, similar to the classic Govind Nihalani’s ‘Ardha Satya.'”

“The authenticity of my character in ‘Sarfarosh’ and its realness continues to resonate with law enforcement officers. This is a testament to the strength of the narrative and John [Matthew Matthan]’s direction, which successfully merged realism with engrossing thrills,” Aamir added.

Aamir’s Lingering Regret

Talking about his remorse, Aamir shared, “One aspect of my role troubled me greatly during the film’s production. I was involved in multiple projects, which prevented me from cutting my hair as short as the role required. That detail still bothers me. Watching the film today, I often wonder, ‘Could we possibly reshoot those scenes?'” He also noted, “Fortunately, my character was mostly in plain clothes, so we managed to make do. John mentioned that hair length isn’t typically an issue in crime department roles – a detail that would have been handy to know beforehand,” Aamir commented lightheartedly.

What Naseeruddin Said

Naseeruddin chimed in, “And if not Aamir Khan to redefine the Bollywood policeman archetype, then who else?” which was met with applause from the audience.

“Sarfarosh” told the story of an Indian police officer’s crusade against cross-border terror, with Aamir’s character Ajay Singh Rathod battling Naseeruddin Shah’s Gulfam Hassan. The film earned the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Following “Sarfarosh,” Aamir is slated to appear in “Sitaare Zameen Par,” featuring Genelia Deshmukh and Darsheel Safary.
