Lana Del Rey reveals the fate of her James Bond theme song

Lana Del Rey penned an original song for a James Bond film

Acclaimed songstress Lana Del Rey has divulged that her attempt to craft a James Bond theme was ultimately turned down.

Lana composed a song with the iconic film series in mind, specifically for Spectre, but the franchise chose Sam Smith’s Writing’s On The Wall instead.

The tune that the Summertime Sadness vocalist had hoped would be featured in James Bond instead graced her 2015 release, Honeymoon.

When questioned at the Ivor Novello Awards—where Lana was commemorated with the Special International Award—about why she has yet to record a Bond theme, she disclosed: “I mean, how has that not happened? I wrote [24] with the intention that they would use it.”

“Sam was remarkable. Maybe it’ll be my turn someday… In the meantime, I’ll keep embracing my inner Nancy Sinatra now and then, pretending I’m crafting the lead track,” she expressed humorously.

British talent Raye also weighed in on the matter, stating, “Her vibe is just so suitable for Bond.”

Raye, who secured the Songwriter of the Year accolade, elaborated, “It feels like it’s meant for her – it’s a future endeavor that I’d love to see.”

“I would be over the moon if they came to me. I’m not sure how one gets tapped for such a role, but I’d welcome it with open arms,” she added enthusiastically.
