Kathie Lee Gifford claims Howard Stern was extremely unkind to her, but she stunned him by offering him the unexpected gift of forgiveness. In her new book, I Want to Matter: Your Life Is Too Short and Too Precious to Waste, she mentions the well-known radio host was the reason she was jeered by some of the audience at the Super Bowl in 1995 when she was scheduled to sing the national anthem there. The 70-year-old states she discovered later that the New York local had instructed his fans to begin booing during her introduction. Years later, Howard was a guest on Today to announce his inclusion in the judging panel of America’s Got Talent. At this juncture, the former Today anchor mentioned she had a divine directive. “The Lord… said, ‘Kathie, go down and greet him, and wish him success with the show.'” She added, “And I said, ‘OK Lord.’ I got up from the hair and makeup [room]. Those ladies had been advised, ‘Don’t allow Kathie to go near the studio.'” I paid no attention. I went downstairs. They asked, ‘Where are you headed?’ I replied, ‘I’m going to greet Howard.'” Shortly after, Howard left a voicemail for her, she informed Fox News Digital, “It was unexpected to receive a voicemail from Howard Stern.” She noted, “He expressed, ‘I can’t believe how kind you were to me. I’ve treated you so poorly, and you were so kind. I need to apologize to you. Please return my call.'”
