Jeffrey Gibson, hailing from the Mississippi band of Choctaw Indians and of Cherokee heritage, has become the first Indigenous creator selected to represent the United States with a solo exhibit at the Venice Biennale, often referred to as the art world’s Olympics. Correspondent Seth Doane travels to the site of the Biennale, engaging with Gibson at his workshop in Upstate New York, where he crafted his show named “the space in which to place me.”
